_Summary_
Responsible for coordinating, maintaining, and directing the maintenance and repair of all facility property, equipment and machinery to ensure non-stop production.
_Essential Duties and Responsibilities_
Plan, layout, fabricate, assemble and perform a complete range of mechanical, hydraulic and normal electric functions to install, repair and maintain machines and equipment at assigned location
Make repairs, coordinate, and direct the repair work of other mechanics and maintenance personnel
Locate sources of problems by troubleshooting, observing, and diagnosing equipment in operation and by using precision testing and monitoring instruments
Adjust functional parts of equipment and instruments using hand tools, levels, Plumb Bobs and straight edges, and/or any other approved tool or equipment necessary
Purchase or make requisitions for the purchase of tools, supplies, raw materials, spare parts and equipment as needed and for inventory
Evaluate new equipment, supplies or machinery and make recommendations prior to purchase
Ensure all related maintenance records are accurate and current
Ensure safety guidelines are followed
In the absence of a Maintenance Supervisor, the Head Mechanic will also be responsible for:
Study production schedules and estimate workers hour's requirements for completion of job assignments
Implement preventative maintenance programs / monitors existing programs
Keep management informed of activities
Coordinate maintenance services to be provided by outside vendors, including warranties and service contracts
Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
_Supervisory Responsibilities_
This position will have direct reports as specified by organizational hierarchy and shift specifications and will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws.

_Requirements / Education / Experience_
High school diploma or equivalent and five or more years of related experience in trades specific to job requirements; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Training from a technical or vocational school preferred
Knowledge of two or more specific trades such as carpentry, welding, electrical or mechanical
Ability to read tool and machinery specifications
Ability to supervise subordinates
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
_Physical Requirements_
While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time
Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
Able to work a flexible schedule
