_Job Description Summary_
Manage personnel within company guidelines
Must manage crushing, screening and shipping to ensure timely delivery of product to the customer
Must manage production, kiln shutdowns, personnel and fuel cost
Dimensions include product conformable with unit weight and gradation specifications
Operate plant in compliance with all environmental, air and water permits
Responsible for compliance of all MSHA standards
Plan and direct the operation of the plant to assure cost effective production of quality in sufficient volume to support sales objectives, protection and maintenance of facilities and equipment
Help the plant manager, schedule and direct plant production to ensure availability of sufficient production to meet sales demand
Assist plant manager in monitoring operating budget and production efficiency, initiating corrective action as required to ensure effectiveness of plant operations as measured by production variances
Monitor production and initiate corrective action as required to ensure that product conforms to quality control parameters regarding weight and gradation
Assist the plant manager in developing and direct adherence to security and maintenance programs and procedures for facilities and equipment to ensure protection of assets and minimization of equipment downtime
Hire, train and motivate plant personnel to ensure the competency and productivity of the work force. The Production Manager is one of the three to assist in the interview and hiring process
Provide and monitor conditions of work that will ensure compliance with the laws and rules of regulatory bodies and company policies regarding safety and environmental issues
Assist in development of short and long range plans for capital expenditures to ensure prudent commitment of funds for capital improvements
Ensure the shift supervisors are adequately trained and motivated to ensure that each shift is staffed and trained in their duties. To ensure the manning of all shifts and regulate time off and back up personnel
Ensure the safety of all employees at the facility
Operate screening department at night and weekends
Fill in as bowl mill attendant if needed
Act as yard attendant at night and weekends
Manage maintenance department at night and weekends
Operate equipment in finishing plant at night and weekends
Operate water trucks
Cover hourly positions if need for callouts
Mange clay haul when clay haul supervisor is out
Physical Requirements
Lift weights up to 60 pounds
Standing, bending and kneeling at periods of time
Walk up and down elevated catwalks and stairs
Knowledge and Skills
On the job training
Operate dozer, bobcat, front end loader, water truck, track hoe and scrapper
